What to Expect from a Beginner Floristry Workshop

What to expect from a beginner floristry workshop

If you’ve ever found yourself drawn to flowers but unsure where to start, you’re not alone. Many people are curious about floristry but hesitate to book a workshop because they worry they won’t be creative enough, won’t know what they’re doing, or simply won’t fit in.

Our beginner floristry workshop is designed to remove those worries and offer a welcoming, inclusive introduction to working with flowers.

Why book a beginner floristry workshop

Hands on flower arranging class for beginners with people working with flowers and scissors

Beginner floristry workshops are perfect for those wishing to have a creative break from busy routines or are considering a career change into the world of floristry.

Others have always loved flowers and want to understand them better. Many are simply curious and want to try something new in a relaxed setting.

You don’t need a clear goal. You don’t need a reason beyond wanting to learn and enjoy the experience.

What happens on a beginner floristry course

A beginner floristry workshop is a hands on, gently paced experience.

You’ll be welcomed into a small group setting and guided through the session step by step, with plenty of time to settle in and ask questions.

You’ll work with seasonal flowers, learning how to condition stems properly, how to think about colour and movement, and how to begin building a natural, balanced arrangement.

There’s a demonstration by our founder, Emma, and then time to create your own piece with guidance available throughout.

The atmosphere is calm and unhurried. There’s no pressure to keep up and no expectation that everyone’s work will look the same.

Before you arrive

One of the most common concerns people have is whether they’ll be “good enough”. The simple answer is that our courses are designed for everyone.

You don’t need:
- Any previous experience
- To bring tools or materials
- To know flower names or techniques
- To arrive with confidence

Everything is explained clearly and practically, and support is there whenever you need it.

Many people attend on their own and find the workshops friendly, welcoming and easy to settle into.

What you'll leave the floristry course with

At the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with a hand tied arrangement you’ve created yourself, using seasonal flowers that you've chosen for their colour and movement,

You’ll leave with:
- A better understanding of how flowers behave
- Practical skills you can use again at home
- Confidence in working with flowers
- A sense of having slowed down and focused on something creative

We're always on hand to answer any follow up questions after the course. We aim to provide a supportive environment for our alumni.
