With March whizzing by in what felt like a moment, and a sea of soft pastels, Kelly and Alan's big day came along and kicked us into full on bright, bold and colourful mode. I adore punchy colours and Kelly and Alan's scheme didn't disappoint. Plums, cerise, dusky mink tones and most importantly lots of texture - a florists dream!
Kelly and Alan tied the knot at their local church and then headed to The Olde Bell in Hurley for the big celebrations. We've been to The Olde Bell on many occasions and have floralled up so many different schemes over the years but nothing as bold and beautiful as this. Tying the knot at the end of March, we had the pick of the spring flowers to use along with some early summer fleurs making an appearance.
Kelly's bouquet was filled with Yves Piagent roses, Amnesia roses, scented waxflower, those gorgeous ranunculus, hints of scented foliage's, seed pod heads, scabiosa, celosia, astrantia and the most tiny bubble succulents. It really had the most amazing scent and texture going on. We finished it with hessian to enhance the rustic look and tied in with the barn
Alan's buttonhole contained a dark plum ranunculus, with bubble succulent for a little bit of manly texture, myrtle, wax flower, all tied with a brown twine for a more rustic finish.
Anyone who knows me, or has had a chance to talk to me about table design will know I'm an avid fan of mix and match table centres, especially in barns! There's something so pleasing to have height variation and interest over the tables, rather than them having to match completely. We decorated The Olde Bell with a selection of jam jars on half of the tables - these also had a tall candleabra for some added va va voom. Our little vases scattered around the base perfectly.
The other tables housed a beautiful mini apple crate filled with flowers to match Kelly's bouquet. All the flowers were taken away by the guests after the big day - the lucky lot!
The jam jars at The Olde Bell contained a whole mix and match of flowers in the colour palette we'd chosen for Kelly's bouquet including Amnesia roses, helleborus, astilbe, magnolia, Yves Piagent roses, wax flower, ranunculus ... basically anything big, bright, colourful and interesting!
I have to admit though the apple crates (snapped below) we're my favourite. I adored the looseness of design, the little spikes of magnolia, the odd cheeky ranunculus popping out at an unusual angle. They were just dreamy.
The day was superbly designed and set up by Lou of Beyond Vintage, who worked her magic on transforming so many different areas of The Olde Bell with her beautiful props. As I'm married to a cyclist, the vintage bike stole my heart and was crying out with a touch of florals to bring her to life.
Lea and Perins bottles were scattered around the venue holding single ranunculus to dress the cake table and sweetie bar.
So its with a sad heart I bid farewell to Kelly and Alan. Thanks so so much for letting us be part of your wedding journey - it was an absolute pleasure and we adored your fowers!
